To
achieve a very functional “U” shaped configuration an existing desk is reconditioned and combined
with a credenza and side credenza. The credenza
is dismantled and a new longer surface is manufactured
to accommodate an additional new lateral file
pedestal. The damaged veneer of the credenza end
panels is replaced with solid wood. A side credenza
is manufactured to create more usable work surface,
completing the “U” shape configuration and because
it is freestanding it avoids the elimination of
valuable drawer space required by an attached
return. |

In conjunction with the redesign and reconfiguration
of the panel system our reintegrated furnishings
program was implemented to create more
functional and ergonomically suitable panel system furniture
components. The credenza was dismantled and a
longer surface was fabricated with a facing to
adapt for a same surface return. A new lateral
file pedestal was manufactured and the piece was
reassembled using existing reconditioned components.
The desk received a new surface facing to adapt
to the same surface return. A same surface return
was manufactured to match and adapt for an articulating
keyboard tray. Overhead cabinets received new
flipper doors. |

An existing shelved
credenza is transformed to
new purpose using our reintegrated furnishing
program. Our client no longer found the bookcase
useful but did need some additional file space
in their office. A lateral file pedestal and a
shelved pedestal were manufactured to replace
the bookcase interior. Cabinet doors were added
to the shelved pedestal to hide stored items.
The damaged veneer on the end panels was replaced
with solid wood and the unit was finished complete. |

A “U” shaped
configuration is again applied with variation.
The configuration and the procedure is the
same as described above. Because of space
constraints the side credenza in this application
is designed to attach to the back credenza. The
desk remains freestanding retaining its drawer
pedestal. |

Eight
Stowe Davis desks used by executive
assistants were still very usable but the returns
attached were not. The return design was outdated
being set at the old typing height of 27” and
would not accommodate ergonomic solutions. Additionally
more work surface was requested and each assistant
had individual requests as to storage. New returns
were manufactured and installed to match the original
desks. With the basic design remaining the same
in each application each assistant’s storage and
surface requirement were implemented. Each new
return was ergonomically adaptable, more functional
and provided more usable work surface at a fraction
of the cost of replacing eight desks. |
